THE SPRING PICNIC - TRAVANJSKI PIKNIK

April 5, 2009

Croatian Friends of Florida is organizing a Spring - Travanjski - picnic. You are cordially invited to join your Croatian-American family, friends, and kids for this special event.

Place: A.L. Anderson Park, shelter # 3  with a beautiful waterfront. Boating and fishing are allowed. Bring your boats and jetskis!

Time: Sunday, April 5, 2009 at 1:00 PM.

Food and Drinks: Croatian Friends of Florida will be providing plates, napkins, eating utensils, cups, and coffee. There will be a barbeque so please bring your own food.           

If there is something specific you want to cook or drink, please bring it. Please bring a covered dish (pot-luck style). We also encourage everyone to bring salads and deserts.

In accordance with the Croatian tradition during the time of Lent, there will be no music at the picnic.

The Croatian-American Club is having a picnic on April 26, 2009. The picnic will be at Philippe Park, 2525 Philippe Parkway, Safety Harbor, FL. The picnic opens at 11 AM, food should be served by 1 PM. Entertainment is Croatian music.

 

Dear friends, thank you to all who came to the December 31, 2008 New Years celebration. There were 50 people at the party. Our party is one that will surely be unforgettable and always a great memory. There was lots of music, provided by the always great Joe and Jure (Croatian songs) along with  professional musician Denny (popular dance music) and Franjo (popular rock songs). Along with music, dance, and young people, the atmosphere was even more lively. A rich raffle only added to the excitement. A big thank you to Mr. Marinko Mesic, Mr. Jure and Olga Vucemilovic, Mr. Zvonko and Mary Ann Grivicic and to all those who brought food and delicious deserts to the party.

Yet another memorable Croatian Friends party has passed. We are quickly preparing for the new year, which will be filled with picnics, parties, and cruises in the Tampa Bay area. You can view several pictures of the New Years party on this page, and many more in the photo gallery.

New Year's Eve Party

Croatian Friends of Florida is organizing a NEW YEAR’S EVE PARTY. You are cordially invited to join your Croatian-American family, friends, and kids in celebrating the coming of the 2009 New Year.

Place: Gulf Landings Clubhouse

Time: Wednesday, December 31, 2008. Doors open at 6:00 PM, dinner will be served at 8:00 PM.

Food and Drinks: Croatian Friends of Florida will be providing plates, napkins, eating utensils, cups, ice, and coffee. Please bring a covered dish (pot-luck style). You can also bring drinks, including alcoholic beverages. We also encourage everyone to bring deserts. There will be a champagne (provided by us) toast at midnight.

Entertainment: Live music will be provided by the marvelous Accordionist Joe and Guitarist Jure, who will be performing Croatian music. Live entertainment will also be provided by the professional musician and singer “Denny” from Chicago. A teenage rock group will also be performing classical and rock music. There will be lots of dancing, singing, and music. Those who wish to cool off from all the dancing can jump into the clubhouse’s heated pool.

 

Raffle: There will be a rich raffle consisting of many great prizes; we would greatly appreciate it if you brought something for the raffle. A brand new 10 mega pixel digital camera will be the grand prize.

The Thanksgiving picnic (11.30.08) was held despite tornado warnings and unusually cold weather for Florida. However, the weather was not enough to stop the 35 of us from getting together and having a successful and enjoyable picnic.  We thank everyone who attended, especially our guest speaker, writer Katarina Tepesh. We also thank our accordion and pianist, who provided live music for us.  Additionally, everyone was very pleased with the "orehnjaca" pastries (Croatian Walnut Strudel) made by Olga Vucemilovic, who is undeniably the best in Florida when it comes to making these desserts.  A big thank you to everyone who brought food and dessert. 

 

Croatian Friends of Florida is organizing a Thanksgiving picnic with an exclusive book signing hosted by Croatian writer KATARINA TEPESH.  She will be presenting her new book, “Escape from Despair: A Croatian Family’s Survival.” The Croatian-American community is delighted at her arrival from New York City. THE SPRING PICNIC - TRAVANJSKI PIKNIK

WAS HELD ON 04.13.2008

Despite cold weather, the atmosphere in the picnic was great. The event started with a moment of silence for all fallen Croatian defenders and brave American soldiers. U.S. War Veteran Mr. Zvonko Grivicich attended the picnic. The event consisted of delicious food and live Croatian music. Two popular Croatian tunes "Marjane, Marjane" and "Oj Ti Vilo Velebita" were sung throughout the day.  About 74 adults and 17 children showed up. We thank everyone for coming, especially the musicians. Unfortunately, our friends from Miami were unable to make it due to bad weather. A big thanks to all those who brought Croatian deserts.
